LGBTQ Affirmative Therapy
Riverscape Counseling is committed to providing affirmative therapy to all clients, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. Our approach to therapy is one that embraces a positive view of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) identities and relationships while addressing the negative impact of homophobia, transphobia, and heterosexism on LGBTQ lives.
At a minimum, all of our clinicians acknowledge the bias inherent in a heteronormative and gender-binaristic society and are familiar with the issues and challenges faced by LGBTQ individuals.
Individual clients and their families are affirmed and supported, whether they wish to address issues specific to their LBGTQ identity or simply seek an affirming and accepting environment where they can focus on other needs.
Beyond this commitment, multiple Riverscape
Counseling clinicians are focused on issues specific to LGBTQ individuals such as coming out, disruption in family relationships, and the loss or re-imagining of their religious identity.
Just as is the case with other minority populations, there is the need for lesbian counseling, gay counseling, bi-sexual counseling, transgender counseling, transsexual counseling and queer counseling. Gay identified counselors or Lesbian identified counselors and therapist can allow you to feel safe and heard in the therapeutic process of personal issues.
Our practice includes short-term and long-term psychotherapy that can help you and your loved ones navigate the difficult choices and challenges that must be addressed when coming out or when dealing with the long-term effects of repression, discrimination, homophobia, or abuse and trauma. Together we can safely address your concerns to begin the healing process and facilitate the life changes that you desire and deserve.
I invite you to explore our website to learn more about our services and the benefits of psychotherapy.
